NOTES

Creative Publication

Atelier Notes is the editorial space of Atelier Collection — a place for considered writing on interiors, atmosphere, and the details that give a room its lasting effect. Here, design is treated not as surface decoration, but as something more substantial: the balance of light across a wall, the discipline of proportion, the mood carried by timber, stone, linen, and limewashed plaster, and the quiet decisions that shape how a space is felt as much as how it is seen.

Alongside essays on space and materiality, Notes moves more widely through the world of Atelier. You will find carefully selected artists and makers whose work brings texture, restraint, and depth into a room; places worth studying for their sense of atmosphere rather than novelty; and references chosen for what they reveal about taste, process, and the art of living well. Reading and watching lists are assembled with the same point of view — not as content for content’s sake, but as a useful edit of what is genuinely worth your time.

Notes also opens into the practical side of the Atelier world. Case notes and renovation reflections offer a closer look at the decisions behind spaces in progress: what is being changed, what is being preserved, what materials are being chosen, and why. The intention is not to overwhelm with instruction, but to offer something more valuable — a sharper eye, a steadier point of reference, and guidance that helps readers make better decisions in their own homes over time.

Written with clarity and restraint, Atelier Notes is designed to be returned to. A source of perspective, useful reference, and lasting inspiration for those drawn to thoughtful spaces and a more considered visual culture.

The Atelier Notes

Atelier Notes is the public threshold of the Atelier Journal: a space for quiet observation, written for readers who understand interiors not as decoration, but as a form of cultural practice. Here, the home is treated as an environment that acts upon us. Light recalibrates perception; proportion registers in the body; materials hold the trace of time, labour, and place. Design is approached as a lived study, attentive to the subtle ways a room can steady attention, invite rest, or provoke unease.

Creative’s Spotlight

Each month, the Creative Spotlight welcomes a new set of emerging creatives. The names you see here are not temporary features: they remain part of Atelier’s archive, held within the Journal so their work can be returned to, referenced, and found in time.

Pollyanna Doyle

Click Me

Doyle brings a painter’s imagination to clay, shaping objects that feel both functional and quietly theatrical. Each piece is hand-built in stoneware and painted with luminous detail—part Renaissance reverie, part surreal story.

Philippa JV Futrell

Click Me

Futrell paints with a quiet attentiveness to light, holding the wild edges of landscape in a state between observation and abstraction. Working in water-based media, she builds atmospheric surfaces where colour and texture carry the mood and memory.

Apply to be on the Atelier Creative’s Spotlight

Do you want to be on next month’s Creative Spotlight? The Creative Spotlight will allow for your work to be discovered by new eyes and help people understand their tastes and for you to gain traction in the ever-growing market. You can apply whether you work in furniture, ceramics, textiles, painting, sculpture, or any adjacent discipline, and whether you’re an emerging or established creator.

If you’re selected, we will contact you and work with you to design your page so that you can have creative input and approval. Your page will be visible for a month and then archived within the Journal so it remains findable over time, and you’ll receive complimentary access to the Journal as part of your placement.
