Pollyanna Doyle

Doyle brings a painter’s imagination to clay, shaping objects that feel both functional and quietly theatrical. Each piece is hand-built in stoneware and painted with luminous detail—part Renaissance reverie, part surreal story.

- Pollyanna Doyle

Brighton-based artist Pollyanna Doyle uses her background in figurative art to create highly decorative ceramic pieces. After graduating from the University of Brighton in 2023, where she studied Fine-Art painting, her focus shifted from the canvas to clay. The endless possibilities of clay have led her to produce lamps, candlesticks, vases, and much more.

Ceramics offer her the opportunity to create three-dimensional, functional works, while still drawing inspiration from her love of Renaissance and Surrealist oil paintings. By harnessing painterly techniques, her ceramics become narrative objects, full of symbolism and imagination.

Pollyanna’s preferred process is hand-building the forms with white, stoneware clay for its durability and plain surface and then adorning the piece with colourful underglazes before coating it in a clear glaze. Vibrant and often detailed surface decoration is carefully painted, ensuring that each piece carries its own unique charm and sense of story.

When she isn’t developing new work in the studio, Pollyanna opens her practice to others through hands-on pottery workshops. Generous, grounding sessions where her skill is shared, and confidence is built at the wheel. Explore what she’s hosting next via the button below.
